Wonderful wind power
Everyone is allowed their opinion, but it needs to be known that Mayor Hornaday does not speak for many in Homer. We personally have invested in a Sky Stream 3.7 and have it installed on Diamond Ridge. For me, it was more a matter on conscience and practicality than any sort of “inconvenience” that I might have to deal with. Yes, when I go near, I can hear a slight swooshing sound. To me, it’s pretty cool looking. But my decision to buy it was about what I can do, today, to lower my power costs and make my carbon footprint just a little less for the whole of the planet. It was more than just worrying about little ‘ole me, and how this might affect my pretty view, or my property values, or whatever slight inconvenience I might have. For three weeks running, we have reduced carbon emissions by 90 pounds.
Windmill technology has come along way in efficiency and noise reduction, and the folks at Alaska Wind Industries are great. They are a whole new generation coming up that President Obama supports. Thanks to Obama, 30 percent of our costs are being paid back. A borough official was here to celebrate our installation. The borough supports these windmills, and as a longtime resident of Homer, I strongly believe that Homer is ready to participate, also.
