Wind Data Logger: Small Affordable Wind Data Logger

This wind speed data logging kit provides comprehensive wind speed data at an affordable price. Includes quality Vortex Wind Sensor, wire, COM port cable (USB adapter available as an option), and easy downloadable software from website - a complete kit that is very easy to set up and use.

Attach to the COM2 25-pin connector as follows: WIND SENSOR is connected between pins 20(DTR) and 6(DSR). The alarm output is on pin 4 (RTS) with respect to pin 7 (Signal ground). It will go high (RS232 positive level) when it trips, and return low (RS232 negative level) when reset. The RS-232 output is specified to be in the range of 5 to 9 volts (positive or negative) when driven into a maximum load of 300 ohms.

USB: Windware will work with a COM to USB adapter (OPTION)

GRAPHING can be easily developed with the Excel Program

OPERATING SYSTEM The wind speed data logging software is compatible with PC’s running Windows XP, 2000, Vista, Windows 95, Windows ME, and Windows 98.

WIND SENSOR Windware 1.0 Wind Speed Data Logging software is only compatible with the Inspeed Vortex wind sensor, which provides one digital pulse per rotation. One wind sensor is included in the Windware Kit.

Current Vortex Users: Any Inspeed Vortex Anemometer Wind Sensor can be used with the data logging software. Simply disconnect the cyclometer display and connect the wind sensor to the PC. Do NOT try to use both the cyclometer and Windware at the same time - it could damage the cyclometer).

The interface from the wind speed sensor to the PC is via the serial COM port D-connector. A 9-pin D-sub connector is included in the complete kit. For existing Vortex users, a connector is available from Inspeed, or simply connect the two wires from the wind sensor to pins 4 and 6 of a standard 9-pin serial port connector (no polarity), or to pins 20 and 6 on a 25-pin COM2 connector. (See COM Ports above).

Comes standard with 25 feet of wire. Custom lengths available on request.
Tested fine with over 1,500 feet (500m) of wire.
Works with any 2-conductor wire.

DIGITAL OUTPUT ALARM The Wind Alarm is configured to change the color of the Live Display and to switch a digital line on the COM Port: the alarm is on pins 7 and 5 of the 9-pin COM1 connector, or on pins 4 and 7 on a 25-pin COM2 connector (see COM Ports above).

MULTIPLE SENSORS Windware requires one COM port for each sensor.
It is possible to run multiple copies of Windware with multiple sensors provided each has its own COM port.

Note that settings will only be auto-saved for one copy; closing and re-opening multiple Windware requires that you check to see that the proper settings are in place.
